About Shoen Sushi

Shoen Sushi presents a diverse selection of Japanese sushi made with fresh ingredients such as yellowtail, tuna, quail egg, caviar, and surf clam. Like well-oiled knife-fighting machines, the restaurant's chefs are efficient and precise. Their all-sushi menu covers maki, sashimi, and nigiri, including everything from spicy scallop rolls to sashimi platters of clean, thinly sliced tuna.

Customer service was awful. Food was not that good. I would not recommend this place at all.

First, let me say that it tasted good. We are regular sushi eaters (we only eat nigiri, sashimi and hand rolls so I can't speak to the cut rolls) and are really picky. The fish tasted pretty fresh, but we got sick for two days after eating at Shoen. We ate nothing afterwards and had different meals for the previous lunch well before Shoen at dinner, so it couldn't have been anything else. Sorry to say we can't make a return visit.

Although the place has been decorated well.... it still smells like the old tired bar it used to be... The food was blahh.... especially the Chicken Teriyaki... skinless dry breast meat that was tough and chewy & probably pre-cooked the day before ... no grilled flavor... sprinkled with overly sweet teriyaki sauce... the Miso soup was way too salty... the Sushimi platter was served with nice sized portions; however, at $17 it should be... I mentioned to the server that the chef needs to taste his or her food..... because if they did they wouldn't serve the dishes I noted above.... she just shook her head and said "Ohh"...and walked away.... I am pretty sure I won't be back...
