Good location but not exceptional. The hotel needs improvement regarding cleaning in the rooms. I understand constructions might be older/historical but for this Marriott brand its certainly short of its reputation. Covid protocol adopted here is affecting guest experience and that also should be revisited, restaurant operation hours even with a full hotel are limited, cleaning crew wont enter the room to remove trash and bring fresh towels; Hilton’s protocol and service are way better than Marriotts and still keeping everyone safe. The location of the hotel is the biggest selling point 1 block away from downtown Asheville and you can walk everywhere from here.

Convenient location to Downtown Great stay at this hotel. Walkable distance to downtown. Friendly front desk staff who kept smiling even though they were having terrible computer issues trying to check people in. Comfortable beds and nice Aveda amenities. The breakfast was good.

Just Okay We stayed at the Renaissance for two nights in the middle of a road trip with our 7 month old. We chose it due to its location, price and pool. It was our first trip to Asheville and we learned how expensive it can be to stay there, particularly on weekends. Our stay included a Thursday and Friday night. The location was great! We enjoyed walking to nearby restaurants and shops, which was easy even with a stroller. Staff members were helpful and friendly. With the Renaissance being a bit cheaper than some of the other downtown hotels, we didn’t expect it to be sparkling and perfect. The lobby was great and our room was nice, but the bathroom was a bit dated. The room was also tiny. Like, similar to what I’ve had in NYC tiny. Okay, not a huge deal. My main issue was with the pool. We chose it bc we wanted to use the pool to wear our baby out so that she’d sleep. We got to the indoor pool and again, it’s pretty dated and worn looking in and around it. Whatever. We go to get in and it’s FREEZING. Other people come in with their kids… same idea as us and everyone is just shivering and disappointed. I had read there were problems with the heat on the pool in the past, but that was December. I assumed that by our stay in July they had been fixed. We paid a LOT of money to stay there and it was just a solid OK for me. Honestly, we were planning to stop and stay there again on the way home from our road trip and I changed our booking. I know they’re renovating, but for the price, guests should get more.

Disappointing This hotel was clean and quiet. There was no shampoo, do not disturb sign, pen. notepad, or any other amenities one would expect in a Marriott property. Even the toilet paper seemed to be the most inexpensive the hotel could find.

Absolutely AMAZING Staff!! The hotel is lovely and very ideally located, but the best asset the hotel has is their incredible staff! Harry, for example, truly made our trip! He checked my wife and I in with professionalism and grace, and we sought his advice a few times on local restaurants and attractions, and he never failed. He even made a point to follow up with us afterwards to see how it went. Tammy was another shining star! When we called down to the Front Desk in the middle of the night to get some housekeeping items, she got them and met me at the elevator with my items. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an extraordinary stay in Asheville!
