WORST SMELL AND EXPERIENCE EVER! I spent over $1000 for 2 rooms. The rooms needed to connect to each other because we had small children. The second we walked in the room we were hit with the most putrid, disgusting smell of cat urine! It was so strong our clothing smelled like cat urine. We couldn’t sleep, we checked in later in the day so we couldn’t report it until the next morning. They tried cleaning the carpets but it did not help with the smell. Those rooms were to only connected rooms available so we had no choice but to deal with it. I have no idea how housekeeping did not smell it or just did not care to report or clean it. When I say it was strong I mean it. I am not exaggerating at all. It was so unsanitary, we got extra bed sheets and laid them out on the floor so we did not step on the carpet. We felt nauseous and felt like throwing up the entire stay. I’ve stayed there multiple times before without incident. I will never stay there again.

Close to Laguna Woods We wanted a hotel within 30 minutes of San Onofre beach. Most hotels closer to San Onofre are like old beach hotels, slightly run down and full on the weekend. This hotel is newer, farther from the ocean, across from The Soectrum—right off of Interstate 5. There is a fully stocked kitchen, with dishes, pots, pans and utensils. We didn’t use the kitchen. A complimentary full breakfast is served downstairs. It’s a buffet, with eggs, some kind of meat, pancakes you make, toast, oatmeal and a few other items. It is not like a Hilton or Hyatt buffet, but the rate is not expensive (<$300) for a large room. There is underground parking, with a secured entrance by the elevator. I’d stay here again, if in the area.

Beware of kids’ competitive sports groups! Beware booking this hotel! Every Little League Team, Cheer Squad or any other competition group of kids will be here running up & down the halls screaming, taking over the buffet with no parental supervision. The groups come from areas where they haven’t been taught how to behave. They destroyed the buffet every morning We had to eat out at a restaurant instead of at the hotel. The hotel tries but is in need of a renovation in the rooms. The pool is absolutely disgusting. We know, we have one and it should NEVER be moldy and murky; it’s a health hazard. We had a hard time getting our room cleaned. The receptionists put us on the list for cleaning the next day then it wouldn’t happen. We asked before midnight (per their rules) but 2 out of 4 days, they “forgot” us. We learned to leave a nice tip in the room to help them “remember”. The receptionists were hit or miss. Some tried, some did not. Overall, this is a very basic hotel. We had another stay booked here for later this year but will cancel it and go elsewhere.

Very pleasant stay On the last 10 days of 2 months of travel, and I really appreciated the assistant manager's (Erika Marshall) genuine courtesy. Always smiling... I also appreciated the fact that the hotel didn't close the buffet area exactly at 9 am. It was nice to not feel rushed. Thanks Erika!

It was OK We stayed one night for our son’s tournament close by. The location was great. We’ve stayed in many Hampton Inns and this wasn’t as good as most. The room was run down. The top of the door wasn’t on the hinges correctly so we had to slam the door to get it to close. The walls were very thin. You could hear every little noise from the rooms around and above you. I woke up to the person snoring in the next room. Breakfast was ok. The waffles were good. The eggs and sausage were cold despite being right at the start of breakfast.
