A good hotel choice in this area Given how busy this area is in the summertime (e.g. Newport Jazz Festival), this was the only well-rated hotel that had an available room when we visited. Unfortunately that means we paid almost $500 (including taxes) for a king bed room that probably costs half that, but we liked the hotel. I was greeted warmly as a Hilton Honors member upon arrival, and every staff member I encountered was pleasant. Our room was clean and quiet. I looked at, though didn’t use the pool, which is quite large, and the exercise room, which had a decent variety of equipment. The free breakfast provided a good array of options and fairly tasty coffee.

A nice and pleasant stay A pleasant stay. Hotel is nicely managed. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Good room service. About 20 minutes away from Newport. We enjoyed our stay and we though the hotel is well located. Plenty of parking space just outside of the hotel. Overall very good

badly needs a refresh This is not a terrible hotel -- no bugs, and when our first room smelled a little funny they quickly relocated us to a room that did not. But it is badly in need of some updating. The air conditioner in the room was loud and kind of worked; the carpet in the room was worn and kind of sticky in places; the beds were okay but just okay; half of the outlets did not work (but the other half did); the bathroom door only closed if we leaned on it. All ordinary wear and tear stuff, but like I said, the place is in need of some updating and overhauling.

Odd behavior I awoke to someone pounding on my door at about 10 pm. The pounding persisted until I answered the door. Two hotel employees said that a prior guest had left their suitcase in the closet. I was too tired to debate this and when I did find the suitcase I gave it to the employees. Needless to say but I didn’t sleep well that night and had to get up at 4:30 am.

Wait Between Flushes We had a terrible stay at this hotel from start to finish. It’s extremely overpriced for what you get. The staff at the front desk is very unfriendly, bordering on rude. The POS system declined all of our cards and we received a blinking stare. We asked if it’s maybe the system and were told that’s not possible. We asked to use the other POS and amazingly it worked. No apologies or anything. Other discussions with staff didn’t go any better. Our toilet didn’t work right. I could tell from the sound what I thought was wrong. We called the front desk. They didn’t fix it. Instead they tell us to push harder on the handle and wait a long time between flushes. Our bed was uncomfortable. Sleeping next to a very loud AC unit didn’t help. Breakfast was mostly ok except the eggs were not good. Do not stay here unless you get very very low room rate.
