Plenty has changed in Vegas since Bugsy Siegel opened the Flamingo Las Vegas—only the third resort on the Strip, and the oldest still operating—in 1946. But the hotel and casino has always adapted, and today it remains a favorite place for visitors to catch a show, party by the pool, and of course play slots and table games. (It's also the only place in town that keeps live flamingoes on site.) 1. FIND YOUR LUCKY GAME

Whether your game is Blazing 7s, Megabucks, or video keno, you won't hurt for places to play among the main casino's 1,600+ slot machines and video poker games. For a change of scenery, head to the Margaritaville Casino, an island-themed spinoff of the Jimmy Buffett restaurant that hosts 220 games of its own plus 14 gaming tables.

2. LOAD UP ON WAFFLES AT THE PARADISE GARDEN BUFFET

Stop by during brunch to recover from the night before with help from an omelet station, made-to-order crepes, waffles, and other Southern and Mexican dishes.

3. ADMIRE EXOTIC BIRDS AT THE WILDLIFE HABITAT

Did you think the Flamingo was just a name? Nah. A flock of Chilean flamingos actually live on the hotel's grounds, sharing the habitat with ringed teal ducks, sacred ibis, koi fish, and turtles. You can even get your picture taken with the parrots.

5. JOIN THE PARTY AT GO POOL DAYCLUB (open march 2019)

There's a whole lot more happening at the Flamingo Las Vegas pool than Marco Polo. Live DJs, drink specials, and contests turn this spot into an all-day pool party, especially when special guests like Rita Ora and Ne-Yo show up. The GO Pool reopens in March 2019.

6. SAVOR A STEAK AT CENTER CUT STEAKHOUSE

The romantic lighting and retro black-and-white look are full-on "old Vegas." So, for that matter, are the classic eats: 20-oz. Porterhouse steaks, Dungeness crab, foie gras, and crème brulee. Catch the happy hour for a shot at $5 wagyu sliders, beef skewers, and other specials that seem almost too affordable for this most upscale of the eight Flamingo Las Vegas restaurants.

7. SEE DONNY & MARIE'S LONG-RUNNING SHOW

Donny and Marie Osmond signed up for a "limited engagement" at the Flamingo in 2009, but each year since then they've decided they're having too much fun to call it quits. Catch the popular brother and sister duo as they belt out five decades worth of hits in an intimate setting with plenty of audience interaction.

8. SIP SPECIALTY DRINKS (AND 50-CENT BEERS!) AT BIRD BAR

Be on guard at Bird Bar—drinks like the Jungle Bird and the Blue Jay may taste sweet, but boy do they pack a punch. The 5 p.m. happy hour, with its 50-cent beers, is also pretty killer. Swing back later for the "reverse happy hour" from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.

9. EXPLORE THE SHOPS AND NIGHTLIFE OF THE LINQ PROMENADE

Just a short stroll from the Flamingo, the LINQ Promenade is a bustling strip of clothing stores, restaurants, night clubs, and attractions. Grab a treat at Sprinkles Cupcakes or go soaring through the sky on the brand new ziplines, known as Fly LINQ.

10. RIDE THE HIGH ROLLER

At the end of the promenade sits the High Roller, a 550-foot observation wheel that provides panoramic views of the neon lights of the Strip. A single rotation takes 30 minutes to complete—plenty of time to enjoy a drink in one of the special open bar cabins.
