When it comes to the Michelin Guide, 2015 is a good year for San Francisco. Two more restaurants were raised to three-star status, and no restaurant that was on the list last year lost a star. As the Michelin Guide’s international director told Eater SF, “The Bay Area’s got nowhere to go but up.” See below for the full list, plus some trends and highlights. Three Stars:

But what does it all mean? Here’s a breakdown of some of the major news from the Guide.

• There are now three-star restaurants in San Francisco proper. By elevating Benu and Saison, the city breaks wine country’s stranglehold on the Guide’s highest honor.
• Chez Panisse is still overlooked. Many expected Alice Waters’s iconic eatery to win back the star it lost in 2010, but it didn’t happen.
• No one lost a star. Not even Manresa, which closed due to a fire and isn’t set to reopen until next year. This might be a sign of Michelin’s optimistic outlook on the development of the Bay Area’s culinary scene.
