About Summerfield Zoo

In 1990, the owners of Summerfield Farm set aside part of their grounds and turned it into a zoo. Since then, they have introduced countless visitors to some 200- plus animals: monkeys, camels, zebras, and mountain lions, just to name a few. While Summerfield offers a unique, intimate viewing experience to guests across its 17-acre facility, the staff also showcases up-close interactions during animal encounter presentations. Summerfield Zoo also has a petting zoo, and visitors can ride ponies and feed baby goats with bottles.

I think this is a great zoo for small children. Not much walking and the staff has children working with the animals too. The show was great as we had the opportunity to see the animals up close. We were able to pet some unusual animals too, such as a baby camel with a soft head. There are also inexpensive pony rides and the ability to feed goats. Since the goats jump, I had to hold my granddaughter and feed them but we loved the experience. We loved the staff/volunteers too!

Tricky to find, but worth the trip. Great owners! Really fixed the place up after the tornado!

Wear cruddy clothes if you plan of feeding the goats!

The paths are mostly gravel so wear gym shoes. The goats like to jump on you so wear clothes that you don't mind getting muddy. :) It is a great time!
