Eagle Tail Mountain Wolf Sanctuary, Tonopah

For over 20 years, wolves and wolf-hybrids have called Eagle Tail Mountain Wolf Sanctuary home. This non-profit organization and education center dedicates itself to these canines, most of whom have been abandoned, rescued, or have been bred for profit under private ownership. Aside from neglect and abuse, wolf-hybrids often face euthanasia due to rabies concerns as they are considered wild animals, as opposed to a domestic species. The Eagle Tail Mountain Wolf Sanctuary aims to shift these views by providing a caring environment for the animals and increasing public knowledge and support for wolf rescue facilities and release projects. On the tour of the sanctuary, visitors are able to have hands-on interactions with many of the wolves.
