About Fresh Feet Foot Care
MY VISION
Working in wound care, I witnessed many patients with foot care deficits and no place to go for affordable and qualified help. Foot Pain from callouses, corns, and toenails is not normal. When our feet are uncomfortable, we are uncomfortable. My solution was to create a clinic for affordable routine foot care, medical pedicures. I uniquely combine complete nursing assessment and education for feet and lower extremities including pulses, color screening, swelling, sensation with monofilament, foot shape, footwear, and nails. Nursing foot care addresses your feet and toenail issues from a whole-person perspective.
Healthcare literature about foot care focuses on people who have diabetes. There is a lack of clarity about which health and social care professionals should provide foot care to patients who can no longer manage to carry out this activity of daily living but do not have diabetes. I said to myself I can help! Fresh Feet Foot Care was born in 2019.
Everyone can benefit from good foot care. At any age, it is important to address how to properly care for your feet, avoid issues or care for issues that arise from sports and activity, such as runners' or dancers' nails and callouses and ingrown toenails.
Good foot care can have a range of benefits including:
·Reducing pain - painful feet can impair balance and functional ability.
·Increasing mobility and physical activity - foot problems are major causes of walking difficulties.
·Increasing self-esteem.
·Increasing social contact and participation in leisure and cultural activities.
·Reducing the risk of trips and falls (foot pain leads to lose footwear contributing to falls).
Some age-associated foot problems may, in themselves, seem relatively minor; however, if unattended such problems can lead to more serious issues. For example, 31% of older people are unable to cut their own toenails because they:
·Can no longer reach their toenails
·Are unable to handle nail clippers due to arthritis
·Have conditions that make them feel dizzy if they bend
·Have a visual impairment
·Have toenails that have become too thick to cut
Those who are unable to perform this essential task for themselves need regular assessment and care to help prevent adverse effects from occurring.
