Cold Kona Brew, Kailua-Kona

Wes and Jill met and married in Washington, but in the summer of 2014 they decided to follow their passion for farming and agriculture away from the continental US. They uprooted their family and landed in the Kona Coffee Belt, where today they grow and process coffee with aloha aina, or "love of the land." It hasn't taken the family long to make an impact on the local marketplace, either. Here are a few fun facts you should know about Wes and Jill's operation:

• Their property is called 3 Keiki Farms. They named the 6.2 acres after their daughters, Mikala, Aubrey, and Harper, and planted it with coffee plants, cacao trees, numerous garden beds, and an aquaponics system.
• They've drawn a lot of praise. Despite only hitting the market a few weeks prior, Wes and Jill's coffee captured the Chef's Choice Five Star Award at the 2015 Kona Coffee Festival. It also landed at No. 6 on the People's Choice selections during the Holualoa Coffee & Art Stroll.
• Pets are part of the family. In addition to the local wildlife that calls their farm home, the family has three dogs, a cat, a conure parrot, and domesticated chickens.
