Museum of Death, Los Angeles

With a large portrait of a bug-eyed skeleton out front, Hollywood’s Museum of Death is an entertainingly frightful place. Located on Hollywood Boulevard and boasting of the world's largest collection of serial killer letters and artwork, as well as execution device replicas, photos from the Charles Manson crime scenes and many more grisly, violent scenes, this old house-turned-museum is a place where guests can embark on a tour of terror. With horrific oddities such as the decapitated head of the French serial killer Henri Landru (known as the Bluebeard of Paris), shrunken heads and photos of dismembered bodies, guests can shock themselves with all the gore for only $15. Definitely not for the faint of heart, the tour takes about 45 minutes to complete, and inside each “themed” room are intricate reading materials explaining each presentation. Free parking is available in the back and no pictures are allowed inside.
