Wooden Cask Brewing Company may be new, but its roots run deep. The Newport, Kentucky brewery pays homage to traditional brews crafted for centuries in England, Scotland, and Ireland with handcrafted versions of its own lagers and ales. And as owner Randy Schiltz told The Cincinnati Enquirer, he's dedicated to creating easy-to-drink creations for those who may be wary of heartier craft beers. "Almost every tap room I've been into, you hear someone ask, 'What's your lightest beer?' It's a way to get people started so they can see that craft beer doesn't have to be 100 IBUs and 14 percent ABV.”

Here's a quick look at a few of Wooden Cask's beers you might find on draft:

• Kinda Light: crisp, refreshing, and low in calories, this light hybrid is ideal for new beer drinkers (4% ABV)
• 7th Street : a classic English Brown Ale down to its medium body with flavors of toasted biscuit and sweet malt (5.2% ABV)
• Reformation: a Scottish style stout with a medium body. The flavor of chocolate and toast dominate with a hint of smokiness
