Five Saints Distilling, Norristown

The influx of craft breweries and distilleries inspired Five Saints Distilling's John George to throw his hat in the ring. A trained pharmacist, George is familiar with the scientific and artful process that goes into making good spirits. He attended Moonshine University in Kentucky where he learned the ins and outs of micro-distilling, and then set up shop in an old Norristown firehouse.

Every Saturday, visitors can tour the distillery, located in the firehouse's old stables, to get a first-hand look at the process and learn about George's own unique history. They'll also get a glimpse into the Humane firehouse's 150-year history and sample a few of Five Saints' small batches. Here's a look at Five Saints' Award Winning spirits:

• Vodka: made with 100% Pennsylvania yellow #2 corn and slow distilled for a smooth finish.

• White Whiskey: bold and spicy small-batch spirit made from Corn and rye that is partially distilled to cut the edge.

• Savory Tuscan Style Gin: 9 different Italian herbs and spices create a totally new category of gin you'll love.

• Blood Orange Liqueur: Boldly flavored with the pulp and rind of blood oranges and at 50 proof, this spirit is a great modifier for cocktails or as a stand alone after dinner drink.
