Like a frozen stage, the rink at Novi Ice Arena hosts performances ranging from fancy figure-skating to deft displays of puck-handling prowess. The house zamboni is kept busy with a schedule chock-full of programs such as skating practice for young figure skaters, adult hockey league games, and open skate times for the general public. Novices can even follow in the early footsteps of ice-dancing hometown heroes Madison Chock and Evan Bates—competitors in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi—through Learn-to-Skate classes, which equip them with basic skills such as turning, stopping, and Olympic-grade moonwalking.
