Because of its ties to American southern cuisine, it might surprise a few eaters that fried chicken is actually one of the most popular street foods in Taiwan. There, extra-large fillets of chicken are marinated in a secret ingredient, breaded with a unique formula, and then deep fried for that crispy outer shell. This, in fact, is where Hot Star originated. Today, Hot Star can be found at three locations in southern California, where customers can order up fried chicken breasts or wings dipped in a Korean chili sauce. Popcorn chicken and cheese fries round out the menu, as well as a selection of refreshing iced teas and sodas.
