Yoga Mayu, San Francisco

The word mayu comes from the Japanese word for cocoon—and this not only hints at how Yoga Mayu founder Gizella Donald sees her practice, but her studio as well. Here, students take part in a variety of Vinyasa classes that are rooted in the Ashtanga and Hatha traditions. In each session, students are encouraged by supportive teachers to fold into themselves and emerge on the other side with greater alignment and peace of mind.
