Taking advantage of the Lowcountry terrain and natural beauty, Indigo Creek Golf Club is a beautiful layout that's both challenging and fun. Located on the south end of the Grand Strand, the course is named after an old rice and indigo plantation. There's plenty of water, winding creeks, oak trees and bunkers on this course, where wildlife is also part of the scenery. Designed by William Byrd, the course, which opened in 1990, plays 6,723 yards from the tips. There are five sets of tees, starting at 4,923 yards, which makes it suitable for all levels of players. Rated nearly four stars on GolfPass, the course has some elevation change, waste areas, and plenty of memorable holes. The back nine, which features meandering streams and mature oaks, is particularly good. The 11th is a par-3 that requires a carry over water, and the 12th and 14th are par-4s both dogleg holes that have water that comes into play. The 18th is a dogleg right par 5 with water down the right side on the approach all the way to the green. The ninth is another difficult par 5. It features a pond in the middle of the fairway. Besides the golf course, Indigo Creek, which has been revitalized in recent years under new ownership, also offers terrific practice facilities that include a full range, practice bunker, chipping greens, and a putting green. There's also a golf academy for lessons. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop with the latest in apparels, accessories and golf equipment.
