The married owners of Maria’s Mexican Restaurant are so in love with their native country’s cuisine that they left their good paying jobs to make and serve it full time. Fueled by this passion for the food they grew up eating in their Mexican hometown of San Luis Potosi, they and their team of cooks use organic, locally-sourced ingredients to create authentic dishes that cover all the bases. They prepare classic staples, including tacos, burritos, and enchiladas, alongside more traditional regional dishes, such as puntas de fillete—cheese-smothered top sirloin tips sautéed with bacon, jalapeño, onions, and tomatoes. But no matter what they fill breakfast, lunch, or dinner plates with, they’re always happy to conclude meals on a sweet note with a desert taken right out of the Mexican playbook, such as flan, pastel de tres leches, or fried ice cream.
