Rilion Gracie Rhode Island builds a strong martial arts foundation rooted in fitness and competition. We instill students with key Jiu-Jitsu knowledge and techniques so they can stand on their own in competitive situations. Every martial artist who trains here learns to be a better individual on and off the mat. This character is contagious and represents the Rilion Gracie Rhode Island culture. Hailing from Brazil, head instructor Rai Ramos trained at Rilion Gracie Academy in Brazil for 15 years. Rai began teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2013 to share his knowledge and experience as a national champion. He strives to improve the community through Jiu-Jitsu training, building a culture like any other. Our History: Rilion Gracie Rhode Island owner Rai Ramos came to the United States from Brazil to open his own Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy. When he first started his new life in the US, he worked in construction to raise money for his dream. For three years, he lived without martial arts and was doubtful he’d ever train again. Then he started teaching BJJ classes out of his basement and started training again. He fell back in love with the art and worked harder than ever before to reach his initial goal. Today, he’s living his dream of owning an academy, spreading the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu throughout the community and helping people be the best version of themselves.
