AncestryDNA test uses microarray-based autosomal DNA testing, which surveys a person’s complete genome at over 700,000 locations in your DNA, all with a simple saliva sample. Autosomal chromosomes carry a person’s genetic information from both parents that are passed down through the generations. Ancestry DNA’s online interface offers state-of-the-art tools for customers to utilize and take a deep dive into their DNA results for family history research.

Once you send in your sample, it takes about six to eight weeks for it to be processed at the Ancestry DNA labs. Remember you have to activate your DNA kit in order for the lab to begin processing your kit.
