Savings Tips You’ll Thank Us For Later
Put on your safety glasses, these budget-busting tips will have sparks flying.

Home Depot has a dedicated Special Buy of the Day page. They offer special and exclusive one-day-only deals, typically savings of up to 50% off specific categories like kitchen sinks, faucets, lighting fixtures, and so much more.
Quickly check all of Home Depot’s available rebates in on easy-to-find place.
SALES TIP: Home Depot often runs an 11% rebate offer to compete with Menards. If you made an eligible in-store purchase, it’s easy to submit your 11% rebate request.
When you sign up for the Home Depot newsletter, you will instantly receive a $5 off coupon. The newsletters also have exclusive deals, discounts, and codes that are sent straight to your inbox, as well as project inspiration and how-to guides. You can also find current Home Depot coupons here.
The Special Values page doesn’t have the same discounts of the Deal of the Day page, but there are more categories and inventory on this page, and a lot of savings you’re not going to want to miss. You can easily narrow down the search by choosing specific brands or even by percentage off.
SAVINGS HACK: Looking for new appliances for your space? Check out our Home Depot appliance shopping guide to maximize your savings.
Are you working on a large project? Home Depot’s Volume Pricing Program is quite the bulk-buying incentive. If you’re going to spend at least $1,500, you can go to your local Home Depot’s Pro Desk for help. Just put together a project list and the team will help you pull together all your material and tool needs. With a Home Depot pro on your side, you can save anywhere from 5% to 30%.
THE HOME DEPOT MILITARY DISCOUNT: All active-duty military and veterans are eligible for a 10% military discount at Home Depot.

Secret Savings
Even more ways to save at Home Depot.
Buying your own power tools and the like can be expensive, and then you have to store them too. You can rent everything from nail guns and chainsaws to lawnmowers and pressure washes (and so much more.) Renting tools will save you time and money.
Lumber for LESS
Most Home Depots have leftover lumber sections with varying sizes of scraps. These pieces of wood typically run 30%–80% off. Head to the back of the store and look for pieces with purple markings. That’s where the savings are.
Home Depot also offers complimentary cuts on lumber you buy in the store. This is subject to size and number of cuts, and applies only to the wood you buy in the store.
“Oops” Paint
If the paint is mixed and the buyer changes their mind about the color or finish, they can have another gallon mixed free of charge. The unwanted original color is put in the “Oops” Paint section and is available for purchase at a heavily discounted price. If want to pick out your own paint color, be sure to shop during holiday weekends when sales are much more likely.
Home Depot does offer a price match program. As long as you find the exact same product (make and model) for cheaper, they will match that lower price.
Home Depot will price match the following retailer:
- Target
- Lowe’s
- JCPenney
- Walmart
- Best Buy
- Staples
- True Value
- Macy’s
You cannot price match online-only retailers like Amazon and eBay or wholesale stores like Costco and Sam’s Club. They also won’t price match clearance, damaged, discontinued merchandise, or homedepot.com prices if the item says “online only.”
If you’re doing some gardening or landscaping projects, we highly suggest you join Home Depot’s Garden Club. The free program will earn you a $5 off coupon up front and you’ll receive tons of exclusive garden deals, discounts and codes, as well as project ideas and how-tos.
