It’s no secret that there are many ways to save at Macy’s, but did you know that you can expand on those savings by opening a Macy’s Card? With two types of cards to choose from—Macy’s Credit Card or Macy’s American Express Card—you’re sure to find one that fits your shopping style, all while racking up points with the Macy’s Star Rewards Program.
Ready to dive in? Here’s Groupon Coupons’ crash course on all things Macy’s Cards.
A Macy’s Card is a credit card and store loyalty program in one. You can use it to shop at Macy’s and earn reward points, called Star Rewards, which get you discounts on future orders. But it has its limitations. Unlike other credit cards, you can only use it at Macy’s, Macy’s Backstage, and Macys.com. Those looking to shop elsewhere are better off with a Macy’s American Express Card, which can be used anywhere Amex is accepted (that includes many retailers, restaurants, supermarkets, and gas stations).
A Macy’s American Express Card can be used at Macy’s and everywhere Amex is accepted, making it more versatile than a Macy’s Credit Card. It’s also part of the Star Rewards program. That means in addition to earning Star Rewards at Macy’s, you’ll be earning points whenever you dine out, pick up groceries, fill up your tank, and more.
Whichever way you swipe it, a Macy’s credit card will help you make the most of every purchase by earning you Star Rewards and Star Passes. Check out more ways to save with the Macy’s Sales Calendar and our updated collection of Macy’s coupons.
It is if you shop at Macy’s on the regular. A Macy’s credit card is a great way to earn reward points whenever you shop. Those reward points add up to Star Money, which you can use to save on your next purchase. You’ll also semi-regularly receive 25% off Star Passes, which can be used on top brands, beauty, and fragrances that hardly ever go on sale.
That depends on which one you have. If you opted for a Macy’s Credit Card (Silver, Gold, or Platinum levels), you can only use it on purchases at Macy’s, Macy’s Backstage, and on Macys.com. The Macy’s American Express Card can be used at Macy’s and anywhere Amex is accepted.
Sign-up is free and oh-so-easy. Sign up here! Both the Macy’s Card and Macy’s American Express Card are subject to credit approval, which may take up to 7 days.
You’ll need at least fair credit (640+) to be approved for a Macy’s Card, and good to excellent credit (700+) for a Macy’s American Express Card.
Star Rewards is Macy’s loyalty program, which allows you to earn points on every purchase. Every 1,000 points get you $10 in Star Money to use on future purchases. You’ll also receive 25% off Star Pass Coupons semi-regularly, which can be used on top brands and beauty items that rarely go on sale. Check out our Macy’s Savings Hack: Star Rewards to learn more.
Yes! And you can do it for free. If approved, your balance and Star Rewards will transfer over to your Macy’s American Express Card. You can also continue using your Macy’s Credit Card until your new card arrives. Read more about it here.
