If you have a long list of things to buy and not much time, a trip to Macy’s is your best bet. The department store can handle any challenge you throw its way, be it a wedding gift, home refresh, or actual pants for when work-from-home life is over. But the best part of shopping at Macy’s is that you rarely have to pay full price—and not just because they have occasional promo codes and 1-day sales. From credit card perks to the Macy’s Star Rewards program, here’s Groupon Coupons’ complete guide to saving every darn day at Macy’s.
Most of Macy’s credit cards (Silver, Gold, and Platinum) are considered store loyalty cards, in that you can only use them at Macy’s properties. The one exception is the Macy’s American Express Card, a full-use card that can earn you 3% back at restaurants, 2% back at gas stations and supermarkets, and 1% back everywhere else. But one thing all Macy’s cards have in common is that every Macy’s purchase earns you up to 5% back in Star Rewards (more on that below). Macy’s credit cards are free to apply for, though subject to fees and credit approval. Apply here!

Being a Macy’s member means earning Star Rewards points on every single purchase, then cashing in those points for Star Money. Every 1,000 reward points earns you $10 in Star Money to use at Macy’s within 30 days (not valid on gift cards, services, and fees). How much you earn depends on your membership level, but be on the lookout for Star Money Bonus Days when you can earn even more!
How to join: Macy’s credit card holders are automatically enrolled at the Silver level, but you can also enroll for free without a card by signing up as a Bronze-level member here. You move up membership levels by spending a certain amount each year. Here are the spending requirements and some of the perks for each level:

The savings come right out of the gate when you open a Macy’s credit card with the New Account Discount. You’ll get an extra 20% off your first two days for a total savings of up to $100. The discount is subject to credit approval; some exclusions apply.
Your family might forget your birthday, but your good friend Macy’s won’t! Macy’s members receive a special surprise during their birthday month. The value of said surprise may vary by member, and you might need to pick it up in-store. To be eligible, just make sure you’ve made a purchase in the last 12 months, your address is up to date, and that you haven’t opted out of receiving marketing mail. Then be on the lookout during your birthday month for some added incentive to shop!
Your wedding may be over, but the excitement of receiving gifts doesn’t have to be. When you create a wedding registry at Macy’s, you’ll reap the benefits of the Newlywed Discount, a reusable promo code for 20% off any outstanding gifts (10% on furniture, mattresses, and rugs) for six months after your wedding. You can use the code both in-store and online as many times as you like. And should something new pique your interest within that time period, just add it to your registry to score the discount. So really, there’s absolutely no reason newlyweds should be paying full price at Macy’s.
And of course, Macy’s wouldn’t be Macy’s without their rotating sales, which include their popular 1-day sales, Black Friday sale, and Cyber Monday sale. Check out our Macy’s Sales Calendar to keep up to date with their seasonal offerings!
