Walgreens has a brand new rewards program, as of November 2020. myWalgreens has replaced the Balance Rewards program. Shoppers can seamlessly transition and move their existing points into the new program before the end of the year. myWalgreens offers easier ways to collect rewards, get more savings, and has personalized benefits.

Is There a New Rewards Program at Walgreens?

The Walgreens Balance Rewards program officially ended on November 5, 2020. The new program was created based on customer feedback and is called myWalgreens. This is a personalized rewards program that offers many more perks that are easier to use than the previous program.

Some of the benefits for myWalgreens include Walgreens Cash rewards, local health & environmental forecasts, and bonus rewards when you achieve health goals. You’ll also have a Wallet in the Walgreens app to help with safer, faster purchases, and personalized deals throughout the store. Plus, they’ve made it easier to pick up online orders and prescriptions quicker, while still remaining contactless and safe.

How to join myWalgreens

U.S. residents 16 and older can join the new myWalgreens program. To register, just go to myWalgreens.com. If you’re a Balance Rewards member, select “Roll over your Rewards,” otherwise, sign in or create a new account to Walgreens.com. Enter your phone number and zip code, and your account has been created.

Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be taken to your dashboard. You’ll immediately know the status of your Walgreens Cash, be able to manage your account, view activity on your account, and pick coupons to digitally clip.

Be sure to add your email address to your account. This is required to redeem Walgreens Cash, and access all of the benefits of the myWalgreens program. To add an email address, click “manage membership,” under your Walgreens Cash activity.

How Do I Earn myWalgreens Rewards?

Walgreens Cash is earned by making purchases in-store and online at Walgreens.com. You’ll earn 1% Walgreens Cash rewards on almost every purchase, including prescriptions from the pharmacy. You’ll earn 5% Walgreens Cash rewards on Walgreens branded products, which include beauty products, household essentials, and even snacks.

Bonus rewards can be earned by achieving health goals set by Walgreens. These rewards are automatically calculated when you check out and use the phone number associated with your account.

Walgreens Balance Rewards

The Balance Rewards program at Walgreens allowed members to earn points based on in-store purchases. Customers got 10 points for every $1 spent, or lump sums of points based on promotion purchases (i.e. Buy 2, get 2,000 Balance Rewards points). 1,000 points equaled one dollar to be used as a discount on future purchases.

With myWalgreens, calculating your points is automatic and much easier. They’ve streamlined the process so that it’s quicker to redeem as well. Walgreens Cash expires 12 months after the date you earned them. You must redeem Walgreens Cash at least once every six months, otherwise, your account will be deemed inactive and you’ll forfeit any rewards.

Can I Transfer My Balance Rewards Points to My ‘myWalgreens’ Account?

Once you sign up for myWalgreens (using the same email and phone number of your Balance Rewards membership), you’ll see your Balance Rewards on your dashboard, in the form of Walgreens Cash. In order to ensure that you don’t lose your points, sign up for the myWalgreens program before the January 31, 2021 deadline. Balance Rewards members who do not intend to join myWalgreens can still use their Balance Rewards points up until January 31, 2021, unless they expire before that date.

Walgreens Cash can be redeemed on top of manufacturer coupons, store coupons, and sales. That means you can stack savings for huge discounts on your purchases. How myWalgreens Can Help You Stay Healthy

The myWalgreens health goals is a great way to get or stay fit, and earn some extra Walgreens Cash. Using the Walgreens app, users can go to their myWalgreens health goals via their profile. There, they can join a 4-week health challenge, connect a device (smartphone, watch or health app), and complete your challenge to earn bonuses.

myWalgreens has also implemented a new system to give users real-time environmental and health alerts to keep you and your family safe. These alerts may range from flu or COVID-19 cases in your area, to air quality or UV index warnings. Just be sure to enable the location services in the Walgreens app to take advantage of this perk.

The Walgreens app plays a vital role in the myWalgreens program. There, you’ll have access to your Wallet for faster, safer payments, your personalized coupons and offers, your health goals, and Walgreens Cash balance. You’ll also receive environmental and health alerts via the Walgreens app. Every aspect of the rewards program can be accessed via the Walgreens app.

How to Redeem Rewards

Before you can redeem your Walgreens Cash, you’ll need to have an email linked to your account. Your Walgreens Cash will be linked to the phone number that you use in-store and online to sign in to your account. You can also use the Walgreens app to access your rewards. Just go to your Wallet, and select the amount of Walgreens Cash you want to redeem in that transaction from the drop-down. That amount will be deducted from your final purchase price.

You can use Walgreens Cash immediately after earning it. For every $1 in Walgreens Cash you have earned, you’ll earn that amount in the form of a discount. You can only redeem Walgreens Cash in increments of $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10, $20 and $50.

There is no limit to the amount of Walgreens Cash you can earn. However, you can only redeem up to $50 in Walgreens Cash per transaction, with a limit of $100 in Walgreens Cash redemption per day.

Can I Use Rewards in Combination With Coupons?

Walgreens Cash can be used in conjunction with manufacturer and store coupons. Most likely, the Walgreens coupon policy will consider Walgreens Cash as a coupon. Since their policy states that you cannot have more coupons (manufacturer or store) than the number of items in a transaction, you will want to use Walgreens Cash when you lack additional coupons to use.

Is There an Expiration Date on Rewards?

Once you earn Walgreens Cash, you can use it immediately, unlike past rewards at Walgreens. This gives you ample opportunity to use them, before they expire. You have 12 months from the date they are earned to use your Walgreens Cash. If you have not used any of your rewards in a 6 month period, your account will be deemed inactive, and your points will be removed from your account. Expired points are no longer valid.

Will There Be a Rewards Card?

Walgreens is making their payment, pickup, and rewards programs safer by offering contactless options. This is true for the myWalgreens program, as well. There is no rewards card needed, since your account is tied to your phone number and Walgreens app. It’s also more environmentally friendly.

Beyond the myWalgreens program and Walgreens Cash, there are always great ways to save in-store and online. Scroll through your offered coupons on the Walgreens app, and add them to your account to instantly save. Watch for the weekly ads for discounts and deals on everything from household essentials to groceries. In-store, you can use coupons to maximize savings, on top of sale prices and rewards.

Save on shipping by opting for free contactless pickup in 30 minutes or less. If you prefer items to be shipped to your home, just spend $35 minimum, or add contact lenses or a prescription to your order for free shipping. A few times a year, Walgreens offers military personnel and veterans a 20% off discount. And AARP members are eligible for multiple discounts and offers.
