Growing up in Kenya, Akinyi Osano experienced a variety of healing techniques. Her mother used traditional medicine to cure basic ailments, and her father shepherded the family to a western-trained doctor whenever sickness hit. Years later, she learned that the traditional medicine of her people in West Kenya was very similar to traditional Chinese medicine. She was intrigued, and began to educate herself more on alternative healing techniques that bypassed the need for drugs or invasive procedures.

Today, Akinyi is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and licensed acupuncturist with certifications in Chinese nutrition, homeopathy, and a number of other modalities. At Acupuncture Herbs Clinic, she gently treats patients' fertility issues and chronic pain using hair-thin acupuncture needles. To help patients combat pain even further, Akinyi may also integrate cupping treatments, herbal medicine, or body suits constructed out of bubble wrap into treatment plans.
