How Groupon Works

Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of San Francisco: restaurants, spas, theater, events, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power"!

If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (20 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll get a printable gift certificate in your inbox the next morning that you can use whenever you want (well, at least until the deal expires—today's expires in one year). If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!

With today’s Groupon, $15 gets you a bay cruise with Adventure Cat (that’s 50% off the normal $30 price). This 90-minute sail in the San Francisco Bay is a great way to see the city’s magnificent skyline and take close-up looks at Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Adventure Cat uses catamarans to ensure a smooth sail (two hulls are better than one). Book your 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. cruise in advance, then head down to Pier 39. Make sure to bring a jacket, soft-soled shoes, and cash or a credit card to buy drinks and snacks onboard. You’re guaranteed to have a good time, whether you’re relaxing in the heated cabin or getting a little wet out on the trampoline platforms between the hulls. Sailing season ends in November, so we recommend going on a warm summer afternoon.
