At Adventure Rock Climbing Gym, climbers of all skill levels are welcome to climb to new altitudinal and adrenal levels. Adventure Rock boasts more than 12,000 square feet of textured, crack-riddled climbing space lined with more than 40 top ropes swaying from heights as high as 35 feet. Before tackling the man-made terra, bold boulder challengers undergo the gym's On the Rocks intro class, which introduces proper knot-tying, belaying, rope-handling, and climbing techniques. Once the basics are set, students can scale up to On the Rocks 2 for free and hone intermediate methods such as route reading and rating, bouldering, and never looking down without a stoic, pupil-piercing glare of confidence.
Call to reserve a spot in the two-hour On the Rocks intro class, held at 6 p.m. Tuesday or Thursday or at noon Saturday. In the interest of safety and keeping toddlers off of pointy peaks, classes are open to students 14 years or older only.
