About Alla's Historical Bed and Breakfast, Spa and Cabana

Alla's Historical Bed and Breakfast, Spa and Cabana may be tucked away in Duncanville, a pint-sized town 15 minutes from downtown Dallas, but don't be fooled. There's a lot going on at the idyllic vacation spot, as the name alone proves. Below, we break down the name—which is as apt as it is long.

  • Alla's: This is a nod to the proprietor, Alla, who immigrated to the US in 2000. In the 15 years since, she's realized that her previous life—unwittingly eating farm-to-table dishes on her European family's farm—had turned her, by American standards, into a culinary wizard.

  • Historical: This is both a nod to Duncanville, known for its antique shops and 1920s charm, and the bed and breakfast's actual buildings; one is the city's oldest brick home.

  • Bed: The sleeping quarters here feel cozily rustic—think hardwood-floored rooms, many of them with canopy beds. Don't worry about it being too rustic, though. Wi-fi is included.

  • Breakfast: Every morning, Alla and her helpers serves an epic breakfast spread. The exact menu varies, but staples include French crepes, cage-free eggs, and homemade jam. Alla teaches guests to make these dishes themselves, too, in classes held every other Sunday.

  • Spa and cabana: The backyard's wooden cabana boasts an indoor jacuzzi and an outdoor barbecue. It's perfect for a romantic evening, especially if guests opt for extras like aromatic candles, chocolate, and champagne.
