Isaac Newton formulated the laws of gravity only after a falling apple knocked him into a tube slide and sent him careening down Mount Blanc. Speculate on a new physical law thanks to today's Groupon: for $12, you get three hours of winter tubing and $2 toward one winter rafting ride at Amesbury Sports Park (up to a $24 value), located in Amesbury, located about 45 miles north of Boston. This deal is only valid for winter tubing, which runs Thursday, Friday, and Sunday beginning in mid-December and lasting until mid-March (with certain date exceptions), weather permitting.

Amesbury Sports Park sends tube-grapplers on an expeditious slide down its steep slopes, pushing obstinate bags of bones onto an exhilarating motion-ride. Avoid steep trudging by riding the conveyor belt up to the zenith of Amesbury's snowy hilltop, then use physics' Law of Ice Slides to reach stunning speeds as you breeze toward the bottom. This year they've opened up twice as many tubing lanes, meaning less time spent braiding your front-neighbor's hair in line, and they're introducing even steeper hills for maximum ground-hurtling velocity. Visitors longing to sit in even larger air-filled disks of rubber get $2 off Amesbury's newest attraction, Ride the Frozen Rapids. Guests hop into Northern Outdoors white water rafts and are sent through frozen ice moguls to simulate the experience of navigating the face-numbing thrills of the Kennebec River at flood stage.

Thaw out icy toes and any frozen steaks you may have brought along for the ride at the full-service Corner Kick Pub. Serving up Kennebec River Brewery’s Sledhead Red on tap throughout the season, down your microbrew with something solid such as their selections of pizzas, burgers, and salads. The spacious pub overlooks all of the icy action through huge windows so you can reminisce on your recent gravity-fueled excursion while warming up with some hot chocolate.

About Amesbury Sports Park

At Amesbury Sports Park, windswept passengers sail tubes down the snow-less summer lanes or, during winter, the powdery pathways of packed snow that dot hillsides of varying steepness. A conveyor belt swiftly returns them to the top of the hill in, where they can repeat the ride. During the summer, visitors can hop inside of one of Amesbury Sports Park's plastic spheres, to take what they call a zorb ride. Their outdoor event venue can accommodate up to 30,000 people, and has previously hosted events such as the Warrior Dash, the Spartan Race, and their annual Brewfest. An onsite restaurant refuels recreationers with tasty American fare, and also hosts regular wine dinners that often sell out in advance. The park also has a function hall available for private parties, and a full-service catering business with cuisine prepared by executive chef Kevin Jacques. New Hampshire beaches are located near the park so guests can soak up more sun and relaxation after their zorb ride or tubing.
