Counseling should be a conversation—a safe place where you can talk without fear of judgement. During sessions, I honor you as the expert of your experiences and offer tools including skills from dialectical behavioral therapy and other theories to help you improve your quality of life.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Ampersand Counseling began with the goal of serving those seeking private counseling with compassion, humor, and honesty.

What do you love most about your job?
I love the opportunity to meet individuals at the human level. So often, we put on masks and try to hide our “ugly” parts. In counseling, we present with authenticity and vulnerability. I am incredibly humbled and appreciative of my clients’ trust and willingness to explore their hidden world.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?
A client once told me that counseling with me was “like walking through a field of flowers on a beautiful day and then stepping on a bear trap.” The client appreciated that I was empathetic, supportive, and kind and that I “called [them] out and didn’t avoid saying the difficult things.”
