About Baker National Golf Course
Baker Park Reserve covers 2,700 acres teeming with lakes, streams, and natural Minnesota flora and fauna. The reserve's golf course, Baker National, can be found in the park's northeast corner, occupying 210 of those acres with its 18-hole Championship golf course and 9-hole Evergreen executive course. The Championship loop carries a par of 72 and an overall length of 6,762 yards from the black tees, the rear of four sets. The Evergreen course, meanwhile, has a par of 30 and a length of just 1,855 yards, making it an ideal learning venue for younger golfers and beginners. In 1995, the complex was designated a Certified Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Society in recognition of its efforts related to environmental conservation, such as protecting natural vegetation against pollution and invasive species that always make noise during important putts.
Though golf is the primary draw, the course accommodates other activities throughout the year as well. In the warm months, visitors have the option of leaving their clubs and sparkly golf gloves at the clubhouse and playing FootGolf, a variation that involves kicking a soccer ball down the fairways toward much larger holes. When winter arrives, the clubhouse transforms into a ski chalet and serves as the trailhead for the reserve's 9.1 miles of cross-country skiing trails.
