About Bennett's Curse
Now at their new location in the shadows of M&T Bank Stadium, Bennett's Curse has become a nationally renowned haunted house and perennial award winner with studio-worthy special effects, meticulously designed sets, high-concept characters, and historically inspired story lines. The Travel Channel rated it one of the top haunted houses in the US and profiled the behind-the-scene designers in Making Monsters. Everyone from Fox News to Hauntworld.com has praised the 40,000 square-foot haunt. Hauntedhouse.com said it was the "unquestionable leader in haunted houses in the Maryland/DC/Virginia" area. Here's a closer look at some of the attractions beloved by thrill-seekers:
Ravenbrook Asylum: Guests aren't just "led" into Ravenbrook Asylum—they're "committed." Thus begins a trip through this newly built asylum, built upon the former grounds of the Sanctuary of Insanity and expanded to house even more horrors. Here, the demented head psychologist, his twin sister, and the staff of the asylum performed macabre experiments on their criminally insane patients. However, the psychologist's control of the asylum was short-lived, as an evil entity exuded its power over the grounds, twisting staff and patients alike to its sadistic desires.
Coulrophobia: In the darkest wing of Ravenbrook Asylum lies the Coulrophobia Wing, home to brutal killers that housed an irrational and violent fear of clowns. Here, keeping with their tradition of torturing the patients they're supposed to heal, the staff hired well-intentioned clowns to "entertain" the patients. The inmates were exposed to these clowns day-in, day-out, until they completely snapped. The patients brutally murdered the clowns, mutilating their bodies and displaying them at the wing's entrance. Then, to everyone's horror, the patients harvested what they could from the clowns' corpses and, driven by a dark need to force everyone to experience their fear of clowns, they donned the clowns' remains, transforming themselves into twisted versions of the once-cheerful entertainers. (For visitors who truly suffer from coulrophobia, there are bypass doors that will allow you to skip this section of the attraction.)
Inferno 3D: An interpretation of Dante's epic work, Inferno 3D turns the Italian poet's terrifying vision of hell into a vivid 3-D landscape. Enter through the Gateway of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and cycle through the craggy, bone-scattered, apocalyptic landscapes populated by the doomed souls paying for their sins.
Underworld: Like a history lesson in sadism, the Underworld is a meet-and-greet with monsters and their instruments of torture. This newly-redesigned attraction fuses history and imagination together, and the result is a dungeon of grotesque prisoners in rotting cells and garbed executioners wielding medieval weaponry.
Legends of Halloween: Following in the footsteps of Underworld, Legends of Halloween brings back all of the Halloween fan favorites, with a terrifying Bennett's Curse twist. Wicked witches, giant spiders, classic monsters, mummies, werewolves, a living forest, scarecrows, ghosts, a haunted cemetery and more, await customers at this brand-new attraction.
