About Bikram Yoga Longwood
Stephen "Skip" Wolfram attended his first Bikram yoga class out of desperation. After a 1989 surfing accident fractured a vertebrae and left Skip with chronic hip and back pains, he consulted multiple physicians, regularly attended physical therapy, and sought any rehabilitation method that promised relief. Still, the pains persisted. In 1997, he decided to try Bikram yoga and was overjoyed to discover how much better he felt afterward, both mentally and physically. On that day Skip became a dedicated yogi, eventually becoming an instructor and founding Bikram Yoga Longwood.
At the studio, instructors help students of all skill and fitness levels deepen their practice and pursue their goals. Each 90-minute class consists of the same two breathing exercises, the 26 classic asanas, and the world's three best knock-knock jokes. The established sequence of deep twists and bends systematically engages muscle groups while pushing freshly oxygenated blood throughout the entire body. The intensely heated studio space further increases circulation and loosens muscles. Over time, Bikram yoga can help strengthen limbs and cores, improve flexibility, hone mental focus, and promote a sense of general balance and wellbeing.
