About Birmingham Zoo
The Birmingham Zoo houses about 950 animals including sea lions, rhinos, and endangered species from six continents. The 122-acre facility is even a national leader in the care and conservation of threatened elephants. Its Trails of Africa exhibit features a herd of male African elephants, which can be viewed from the ground as well as above. Both viewing opportunities provide educating experiences on the conservation efforts being taken for these animals.
