And yet, though boutique tools such as "canned intelligence" and "anti-matter" might help one thwart some kind of evil, BSSC is really a front for an even more noble pursuit. Its sales help to fund 826NYC, a non-profit program that helps elementary through high-school students hone their writing skills in an encouraging, playful setting. The organization offers field trips and drop-in tutoring as well as volunteer-taught, after-school workshops that engage students with projects they might not otherwise experience.
