A keen sense of fashion, like growing an extra arm to hand out scratch-and-sniff business cards, is a traditionally appealing way to get noticed. Express yourself with today's Groupon: for $20, you get your choice of any class at Camp Fashionista (a $45 value). Workshops are scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays and take place at A Work of Heart Studio.
The hands-on experience at Camp Fashionista is led by the multitalented Dori Duncan, a fashion-industry veteran who, among other stylish achievements and degrees, boasts the real-world experience of running her own label. Enjoy Dori's comprehensive instruction with a friend during her Introduction to Sewing Class for Adults, where you'll learn machine basics including threading, winding your bobbin, selecting your stitches, and more. Afterward, participants will leave the class with practical projects such as drawstring pants or a lined tote bag. Meanwhile, the all-ages fashion drawing lounge introduces students to industry-standard techniques, including how to sketch a properly proportioned fashion figure and how to generate realistic shadowing on your 2-D runway star.
Alternately, the American Girl Doll Clothes class gives humans 8 and older the chance to make a fresh set of duds for their mini models. Teens will also learn how to rework their scraps into showy pieces in the Recycled Fashion course, imparting the skills necessary to refit an old pair of jeans into a stylish skinny leg or transform a leftover pita sandwich into a nifty messenger bag. With choices available for all age levels, you can purchase one Groupon for yourself and one more for each member of your familial sewing circle.

About Camp Fashionista
As a professional fashion designer and owner of Camp Fashionista, Dori Duncan empowers children and adults to bring their clothing ideas alive through design. Her classes span sewing and drawing lessons and camps that teach participants how to work with their inspiration from inception to physical creation. Beginner sessions start with foundational skills, imparting essential skills that teach students to eventually execute their own design ideas. Dori also runs parties for kids and adults in which groups choose a specific project to work on, like pajama pants or aprons, and everyone goes home with their finished piece.
