During the 16-kilometre rafting adventure, guides teach rafters of all experience levels the skills necessary to navigate Class III and IV rapids. Rafters take off down the Squamish and Elaho Rivers and tackle challenges such as the Devil’s Elbow section while playing skill-honing games and leaping into the cool waters. Tours glide past jaw-dropping vistas that include old-growth forests, dormant volcanoes, and waterfalls, and wildlife such as beavers and bears occasionally make appearances. Once outings have adjourned, guests return to the company’s outback facilities where they can change into dry clothes, grab a bite to eat at the on-site restaurant, or perfect their serves on the volleyball court. Canadian Outback Adventures & Events provides guests with wetsuits, booties, a life jacket, and a helmet. Tours depart every weekend at 10:15 a.m. from Saturday, September 8, through Sunday, September 30.
Canadian Outback Adventures & Events
The bright-yellow raft slams head-on into the rapid, sending a torrential downpour over the drenched but laughing rafters as they climb the foaming waves. Such high-adrenaline moments are hardly a rarity on Canadian Outback Adventures & Events’ whitewater-rafting trips, one of their many meticulously planned adventures that unfold in the midst of British Columbia's and Alberta’s most scenic locales.
It all began in 1992, when the Corbett brothers James and Steve founded Canadian Outback Adventures & Events to introduce visitors to BC’s awe-inspiring scenery via outdoor expeditions. The Corbetts have expanded their company substantially since its inception, transforming their scope from a small BC-centric paddling and hiking outfit to a multiprovince adventure hub that organizes diverse and thrilling experiences ranging from ziplining in the Sooke Hills to guided snowshoe tours in Jasper. Despite their growth, the brothers and their trained team have continued to uphold their mission to empower patrons via boundary-challenging and team-building outdoor odysseys that reconnect participants with nature. Rock-climbing expeditions in the Whistler to Squamish corridor facilitate up-close encounters with stony faces, and dogsled tours in Banff are lead by purebred huskies trained to entertain their passengers with articulately barked anecdotes.
Canadian Outback Adventures & Events is built upon a foundation of social responsibility and the belief that learning, discovering, and laughing brings people together. Their Canadian Outback Cares initiative has contributed funds toward causes such as Muscular Dystrophy Canada, Junior Achievement of BC, and the Nature Trust of British Columbia.
