About Canyons Resort

On each fast-paced journey at Canyons Resort, skiers hop genres from science fiction to western. They might ascend aboard the Orange Bubble Express—a heated, space-age seat with a sunny translucent orange roof—to reach the mouths of rustically named runs such as Lookout Ridge, Arrowhead, and Badlands. These are just three of more than 180 routes that criss-cross the resort's nine peaks, helping form the extensively varied terrain that has distinguished Canyons from among the country's powder hot spots. In fact, both Ski Magazine and Forbes magazine (in addition to other publications) have lauded Canyons as one of the top ski resorts in North America.

Each year, Canyons Resort collects an average 355 inches of snow atop its slopes. The mountains play host to trails of beginner, intermediate, and expert levels with long, steep straightaways complementing hills that end in yawning bowls and aspen trees dotting forested segments. Though most of the trails are labeled intermediate and expert, beginners can whiz down green-circle trails such as Raptor Way and Hideout. Six natural halfpipes beckon those addicted to flight, and three terrain parks boast boxes and jumps. A fourth even entertains ages 3–6 with miniaturized shredding surfaces that provide a safer introduction to the sport than having them ride piggyback at the X Games. All told, there are 4,000 acres of skiable area abutting the luxurious resort village below.

To acquaint students as young as 2 to the fundamentals of winter sports, Canyons Ski and Snowboard School, combines a lesson with daycare. Seasoned instructors also lead private and specialty classes for guests who have outgrown their training skis—Olympian Holly Flanders, for example, heads a three-day women-only workshop. Aside from skiing and snowboarding, Canyons welcome visitors to award-winning restaurants and schedules activities that take advantage of its frosty locale: horse-drawn sleigh rides, dogsledding, and guided snowshoe tours take guests on scenic treks, whereas zipline and heli-ski outings grant riders a bird's-eye view of the landscape.
