Hundreds of animals call Catoctin Wildlife Preserve home, including everything from sun bears to kangaroos to the Galapagos tortoises that roam the preserve's 100 acres. The Zoo is broken into several distinct areas representing various habitats of the world. Feed a hundred colorful koi at the Japanese Koi Pond near Asian plants and a naturalized waterfall, or watch the inhabitants of nearby Alligator Bayou glide and snap through a miniature Louisiana swamp accented with Spanish moss and Cajun music. Seasonal safari rides trek through the preserve's heart, where bison, zebra, water buffalo, yaks, and llamas approach the truck to be petted, fed, and photographed. Catoctin also offers camel rides and animal demonstrations seasonally.
