On October 28, Cedar Hill Cemetery leaves its doors open after dark, allowing the Haunted History Lantern Tour guides to lead groups on a spooky venture throughout 270 acres of headstones. Guides carry lanterns, illuminating pathways for followers and making stops at the gravesites of some notable residents including actors, businessmen, and many veterans of the Civil War. Character actors perform the cryptic and true stories of the deceased, using a Ouija board and the Stanislavsky method to portray figures accurately. Guests of the final resting site should wear comfortable shoes and bring flashlights and pre-baked kugel to share with inhabitants who have not eaten since the nineteenth century. Cedar Hill Cemetery is a protected memorial ground dotted with artwork and steeped in the quintessential New England natural beauty amplified by autumn.
