Though wolves are best known for their caring, human-orphan-raising abilities, they are also gifted skaters and stick handlers. Experience the competitive side of these icy caretakers with today’s side deal: for $9, you get one ticket to see the American Hockey League’s first place Chicago Wolves take part in one of three intense matchups: Saturday, March 20, at 7 p.m. vs. San Antonio Rampage; Sunday, March 28, at 3 p.m. vs. Texas Stars; or Saturday, April 10, at 7 p.m. vs. Grand Rapids Griffins. Tickets are usually $19 on game day or $17 in advance.

Each fast-paced game takes place on an imported glacier inside the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Your seats will be in the 200 level of the arena’s green section. From your upper perch, you’ll be able to see every shot, check, and exhilarating icing penalty without reaching the height where human-to-ant conversion takes place. The only nosebleed section at the Allstate is inside the hard-hitting rink itself.

The Wolves are one of the fiercest sports franchises in Chicago. Of their 16 seasons, they’ve reached the post-season 14 times and gone on to win the championship four times. Their stats are even more impressive than the short-lived fencing team, The Windy City Jean-Claude Van Dammes, who were kicked out of the league for using roundhouse kicks and full splits instead of swords. Once again, the Wolves find themselves in first place of the West Division, in position to fight for a fifth championship.

In addition to game itself, a Wolves outing is an all-ages entertainment extravaganza. If you’re attending one of the Saturday games, there is a free Fun Fest where fans can listen to music, play games, dance with wolves, and experience other lively forms of amusement. On Sunday, there’s a free postgame autograph session in addition to the pregame fireworks show and laser-light display that happen on all game days.
