Experienced amphibians and first-time wave-breachers alike can benefit from Columbus Scuba's wide range of scuba courses, taught by a team of certified instructor trainers. In an Advanced Open Water course, certified scuba students can expand their underwater repertoire; two sessions involve plunges to depths of 60 feet or deeper, one session entails a moonlight dive, and two navigation-focused sessions teach divers how to ask for directions in Mermanese. Each class racks up students' dive counts until they are as comfortable snorkeling in more advanced situations as they are snorkeling in their waterbeds.
Columbus Scuba's entry-level scuba-certification course introduces first-timers to aqua cavorting and culminates in the acquisition of lifelong certification. The course is generally completed in five sessions, held once weekly, much like a con artist's birthday. The sessions focus both on academic book learning and pool-bound dives. Students must also complete four required check-out dives in open water before earning their certification. A certified diver is legally able to dive, purchase equipment, buy air, weave reusable shopping bags out of seaweed, and board a dive charter. Scuba tanks and equipment are provided for the entirety of the course, except for students' mask, fins, and snorkels, which may be purchased from and fitted by Columbus Scuba after the first class. About Columbus Scuba
Under the choppy surface of Ohio's quarries and waterways, the Columbus Scuba team guides students into the world of underwater exploration with specialized training courses. In order to prepare students for diving situations and encounters with bullies in schools of minnows, the team also holds classroom sessions, including PADI open-water certification. In addition to training students, Columbus Scuba dedicates itself to the diving community by operating the Mid-Ohio Divers club, through which they organize barbecues, camping trips, and group dives in far-off reefs and caves.
