A recently discovered alternative to the indoors, going "outside," offers adventurous explorers exposure to things such as wind, sunshine, and the naturally occurring mazes found in corn fields. Leave the indoors with today's Groupon: for $12, you get two tickets (up to a $24 value) to Conner's A-Maize-Ing Acres, located in Hilliard. This Groupon is only valid from October 9, 2010 to November 13, 2010. This fully functional farm is closed Sunday and Monday.
Every fall, Conner’s A-Maize-Ing Acres rolls out a hay-strewn red carpet and offers families a gala assortment of farm-themed activities. Admission to the farm gets visitors one journey through the corn maze, which honors the Special Olympics of Nassau County by embedding the international organization's logo within its design. The maze is divided into two sections that combine for a total of approximately three miles of corny wanderings that can only be navigated by reciting the names of presidential horses. Guests also get one hayride and unlimited access to a variety of attractions, such as pedal carts, duck races, and more than 100 farm animals eagerly awaiting a tender, reassuring noogie.
As a working family farm devoted to community-supported agriculture, Conner’s grows its crops without the use of pesticides and raises its animals with lots of compassion and ice-cream sandwiches. Pumpkins from New Mexico are available for sale at the pumpkin patch, and a portion of all related proceeds is donated to the Child Cancer Fund at Nemours Children’s Hospital. Check the schedule of events and wrangle your brood for a crisp autumn stroll through amber waves of corn.
