The Cooking Fools, a nomadic tribe of chefs, have taught their unique cooking methods since the Dawn of Man. The Cooking Fools once roamed the plains of the southwestern United States, domesticating animals and teaching them how to cook. But without proper equipment or opposable thumbs, the animals struggled.
Just when cooking in the United States seemed like a lost cause, the Native Americans arrived in North America on rafts, ready to learn the Cooking Fools' methods. The native peoples excelled and eventually showed the white man the Cooking Fools' cooking lessons so they could cook their own possum cakes, apple flank, and boiled vats of mayonnaise.
To commemorate those days, the white man created Cooking Fools Cooking Class Day, later changed to Tree Day by a drunk President Ulysses S. Grant, and then to Arbor Day by a sober Woodrow Wilson. The Cooking Fools have since settled in Chicago and continue teaching their methods to modern man.

With today's Groupon, $50 lets you partake in the one-of-a-kind experience that is a Cooking Fools party (an $84 value including taxes). You get a hands-on experience creating delicious recipes from scratch, learning endless helpful cooking methods along the way.
Choose between two classes: Sushi Making or Pasta Making (see right). Class sizes are larger than a traditional cooking class (50–80 people), which contributes to Cooking Fools' popularity because it's also a fun social event. You may meet your next best friend, lover, personal chef, or adopted son at Cooking Fools. Classes terminate in glorious fashion: you get to eat the meal you made. And since they won't let you screw it up, it's going to be professionally delicious.
After you leave Cooking Fools' kitchen at 1916 W. North Ave., you'll be equipped with new skills that extend beyond the recipes learned in class. That's because Cooking Fools focuses on teaching cooking techniques and principles rather than particular concoctions. This class will encourage you to confidently cook without depending on a cookbook, weaning you off your heroin-like dependency on strict recipes. Open your life to creative concoctions, and follow your heart to the recipes trapped in your heart. Cooking Fools will jailbreak the tiny chef imprisoned inside the cupboard of your soul—and your friends' souls too, because you'll probably want to bring them along. (Doggie bags for capturing the escaped miniature chefs are provided.)
Reviews
Nineteen reviewers on Yelp give Cooking Fools four stars:
- In a relaxed, almost domestic setting, with our aprons donned and with some expert chef instructions, we chopped, stirred and sauteed our way to produce some pretty good stuff and had a lot of fun doing it. – Deepa J
- We were brought to the classroom to learn how to make stuffed chicken breasts and great sides. Nobody felt rushed, nobody left hungry and we all had a great time. – Michelle H.

About Cooking Fools
Many cooks would insist that a trusted recipe is the foundation of a good meal, but at Cooking Fools, it’s the first thing to go. Their cooking classes unshackle pupils from their cookbooks and encourage creativity in the kitchen. Their chefs exercise the same artistic license over the meals they assemble for cooking parties. Adhering to three main principles—quality ingredients, good style, and common sense—the staff crafts healthy food, decreasing saturated fats but never flavor. Many of their entrees radiate global inspiration, and are arranged in a modern, artistic way that doesn’t outshine flavors.
