This class covers both handbuilding and working on the pottery wheel. 2nd graders get an introduction to the wheel, while the 3rd - 5th graders have a chance to develop their skills for a more comprehensive experience. Students will learn basic handbuilding skills of ceramic construction s like pinch pots, coils, and slabs through creative projects ranging from cups, to bowls to clocks and teapots!
Tribeca Clayworks, at the Downtown Community Center in Tribeca, now offers drop off after school classes to all Elementary and middle school age children.
In our fully equipped ceramic studio (pottery wheels, kilns, clay extruder, slab roller, all the tools and clay you will need), the student will be instructed by our professional ceramic artists. Projects are engaging and enriching covering many clay techniques with themes that inspire thought and imagination. Children in 2nd grade to 8th grades get to go on the pottery wheel.
