About Culture Shakti Dance

Culture Shakti is a Rajasthani Folk Dance Academy offering classes worldwide on Zoom. Originally based in Seattle, WA since 2007. Now based in Los Angeles, CA. Classes are taught by Katrina Ji, Member of the International Dance Council, CID - UNESCO and native Rajasthani teachers from the Kalbeliya community and more. Kalbeliya are originally known as nomadic snake charmers. Now Kalbeliya is a UNESCO recognized Folk Dance of Rajasthan India. The snake like movements are the signature steps in this dance. Classes cater to students of all ages and skill levels, introducing them to basic steps and advanced transitions that define the art form. Kalbeliya dance has become more famous since the popular Bollywood Ghoomar song appeared in the film Padmavat. Explore the dance steps, facial expressions, and hand gestures that comprise a typical routine.
