Tampa’s Downtown on Ice invites guests to take a spin on the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park’s outdoor ice rink, furthering their mission to help Tampa residents enjoy the city’s wealth of leisure and outdoor amenities. Groups can strap on a pair of skates and enjoy 90 minutes of gliding, spinning, and etching secret love messages to extraterrestrial crushes atop the ice. Ensconced in a scenic setting, the rink allows skaters to enjoy the winter festivities while basking in the park’s natural beauty. The rink opens its doors to the public every evening, but like the popularity of “Auld Lang Syne” remixes, ice-skating season ends after New Year’s Day.

About Friends of Tampa Recreation

When you think about things to do in Tampa, outdoor ice-skating is usually not usually the first thing that comes to mind. But you can experience this quintessential winter activity at Tampa’s Downtown on Ice, the city’s only outdoor ice rink. Here, skaters can practice ice-hockey moves, figure-skating leaps, and carving the alphabet in cursive. The rink is part of Friends of Tampa Recreation, an organization that leads several activities, such as youth arts and crafts programs, sports leagues, and field trips for seniors.
