Two of Davenport's first buildings, a general store and a public bathhouse, were built in the early 1900s. Roughly a century later, after several renovations and tenants, the plot of land belongs to the Davenport Roadhouse, a small inn known for its food and love of Mother Nature.

The praise for the food goes to chef Erik Soderholm and his staff, who prepare sustainably sourced king salmon, cod, crab, and daily catches in accordance with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch. They also serve burgers for lunch and dinner, omelets and pancakes for breakfast, and local wines and beers from their full bar, which was handcrafted from black walnut.

For proof of its environmentally friendly practices, the building is LEED certified. It features cork floors, insulation made from recycled blue jeans, and landscaping comprised of plants and flowers that don't require much water, just three squirts of the squirt gun.
