Bathhouses, unlike shower houses, encourage guests to sit in saunas and do not sternly bar the use of rubber duckies. Relax in a warm, duck-friendly environment with today's Groupon: for $60, you get five bathhouse day passes to Downtown Banya in Everett (up to a $150 value).

The saunas at Downtown Banya incubate guests in healthy 185- to 200-degree warmth. After depositing belongings in the secure locker room and showering, patrons can slip into slippers and towel into a towel before moseying on to the Russian or wet saunas, to which this Groupon grants unlimited use. With a cobblestone stove that reaches temperatures of 800 degrees, the wood-walled heated room stretches open pores to funnel out pernicious toxins and funnel in wholesome oxygen. Once sufficiently steamed, bathers can take a bracing plunge into a 33-degree pool, simulating the ancient Russian tradition of diving into an ice-cold lake whenever one spots a moose.

After invigorating the body with extreme temperatures, visitors can unwind in the lounge, where they can enjoy movies and sports on a large flat-screen television from the comfort of plush leather couches. Or they can challenge an acquaintance to a game of pool, which is a billiards game involving hand-eye coordination and not a race to design and construct a swimming arena.

Though Downtown Banya features an early-bird special, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

About Banya by FGM

Downtown Banya looks and feels like an old-world bathhouse, but it's blessed with some distinctly new-world amenities, including a bistro that serves dumplings and beer and spa services such as massages and facials. The main draw is a sauna composed of two rooms—Russian and dry. A third-generation Russian stove maker crafted the Russian sauna, which has a low-humidity environment that allows temperatures to soar higher than they could in other types of saunas. The wet sauna, meanwhile, dangles the prospect of aromatherapy—clients may buy herbs in the lobby and waft them throughout the room so that no one will question why their hair smells like chicken fingers. After they’re done loafing around the sauna rooms, clients can dip into cold pools that help the skin maintain elasticity. Or instead, they can sink into a warm jacuzzi equipped with a flat-screen plasma TV overhead.
