As the somewhat cryptic old adage goes, "The food is always sweeter on the east side of the lake—in bed." Today’s Groupon proves this to be true. For $10, you get $25 worth of grilled fare, hot and cold drinks, and a lovely view at Eastlake Bar & Grill.

Eastlake’s outdoor deck seating adds a welcome seasoning of boats and kayaks to its breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. The blackened-salmon Caesar salad is cleanly cadenced and Cajun-spiced ($15.99), while the Santa Fe grilled cheese (cheddar, pepper jack, black-bean corn salsa, tomato, and avocado on crisp sourdough, $10.99) will overwhelm you with its sheer meltiness. The cayenne-seasoned Diablo half-pound burger begs to be eaten (audibly, if you ignore it) ($11.99), and the competitive spirit is high between the tiger prawns and the andouille sausage as they show off for you in a Cajun cream sauce over penne ($15.99).

All food can be handsomely accompanied by any of Eastlake’s customized cocktails or proudly poured local microbrews. The homemade hot butter'd rum ($7.50) and hot apple pie (hot cider combined with Tuaca and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon; $7.50) are especially welcome on crisp winter days. If it's dark and stormy outside, kick back with a dark and stormy (rum, ginger beer, and muddled limes; $7) inside. And if you need more Christmas spirits to get into the Christmas spirit, order a peppermint mojito frappe ($8.50).

This Groupon is not valid with other offers, such as Eastlake’s happy-hour specials or its $15 three-course feast.

The Silver Lining of Eating Next to Water

Eating so close to a body of water has numerous benefits, but it's not without some drawbacks. Here are the downsides to eating near water, and the silver lining of each downside:

The Downside: Marine creatures will constantly be leaping out of the water to join you for dinner.
Silver Lining: Some kind words could be enough to convince the sea creatures to leave or to reveal their secret ability to enjoy literature.

The Downside: Your dinner will be ruined by either the surprise appearance of apocryphal sea monsters or by the disappointing lack of apocryphal sea monsters.
Silver Lining: According to most federal gun laws, the mere idea that sea monsters could invade your privacy is sufficient legal grounds to bring firearms to dinner.

The Downside: If the restaurant's closest body of water is the set of an amusement park's aquatic super-boat stunt spectacular, you'll no doubt be splashed by a jet's wake.
Silver Lining: You'll be soaking wet, but you'll also be soaking with thrills!

About Eastlake Bar & Grill

While guests ogle the boats and kayaks passing by outside, Chef Andy Torres stays in the kitchen, cooking up inventive takes on American comfort food. He seasons burgers with house-blended rubs, smothers meatloaf in bourbon mustard glazes, and stirs bacon, pulled pork, and prosciutto into the aptly named three pig mac and cheese.

To complement each hearty dish, the tenders of Eastlake's bar pour local microbrews and whip up tasty cocktails like Top Deck Margaritas, mixed with Avion Reposado tequila, muddled lemon and lime, lemon basil simple syrup, soda, shaken and served on the rocks. Though the deck and patio are seasonal, the dining room, complete with its own bar, is open all year. Here, rounds of trivia test knowledge every week, while flat-screens TV show the day's biggest sports games or rowdiest congressional boxing matches.
